Shopping At Dubai Dubai is such an exciting and diverse travel destination that it attracts millions of visitors annually – particularly during
the winter months when the weather is perfect for every single activity from sunbathing and scuba diving to camel racing and
desert safaris.
The ultimate shopping hangout in Dubai is the Mall of UAE . It is the country's biggest entertainment center. It has loads of
attractions. The number of stores in this mall is around 500. The mall also has a huge number of restaurants, night clubs and
AMC theaters. Some special events are also organized here. However you cannot see everything in the mall in one day and hence
you need some time.
Originally a small fishing settlement, Dubai was taken over in the 18th century by a branch of the Bani Yas tribe led by the
Maktoum family who still rule the emirate today. At that time the usual modes of attaining sustenance were herding sheep and
goats, cultivating dates, fishing and pearling. However, the liberal attitude of the rulers made the emirate attractive to
traders from India and Iran. In 1971, joining together with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and (in 1972)
Ras Al Khaimah formed the federation of the United Arab Emirates.
Some of the tourist spots worth mentioning are landscaped public gardens on the Bur side of Dubai; a bird sanctuary near a
shallow lagoon at the inland end of the Creek which attracts migrating shore birds; the Wild Wadi water park featuring 23
water rides and a fake thunderstorm; Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort; desert safaris; Sundower dune dinner (dinner theatre);
the Gold Souk, the famous shopping area; Sheikh Saeed house (former residence of the ruling family); and the museum located
at Al Fahidi fort.
Many tourists might take for this idea for granted as being the full truth. Granted many commercial and financial activities
are found in the Bur Dubai region including the Dubai World Trade Centre however Deira has a lot to offer as well to Dubai
visitors.
Deira Great for Shopping
If you love doing shopping at huge US style malls should be happy to know that these are also available in this area of
Dubai. You can go shopping at US style malls in both Bur Dubai as well as Dubai.
A large number of shops and other businesses have over the last few years relocated from Bur Dubai to Deira as the rents are
so much lower in the Deira side of Dubai.
Dubai at Night.
The evenings in Deira are much more alive than in Bur Dubai with the streets filling up with many people. Local residents
love having dinner at one of the many restaurants or to simply drink a coffee at one of the open air coffee. People watching
seems to be the favorite activity for many people in Dubai.
The great atmosphere in this part of Dubai is surely a reason for many people to come and stay at a hotel in Deira rather
than in one of the hotels in Bur Dubai. These goods include fresh fruit and meat, mobile phones and sometimes even cars and
boats.
