Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline last week hosted a gala dinner for its travel partners as a token of appreciation for the local travel agents that support it,
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure, Dr Maua Daftari, who praised the airline for providing local travellers with reliable air connections to big cities across the globe.
'Emirates is playing a big role in the growth of our economy by connecting our local traders to many destinations world wide. As well, it facilitates the export of Tanzanian farmers' produce to Dubai and beyond,' Dr Daftari added.
On his part, Emirates' Area Manager Tanzania, Khalid Al Serkal, said: 'We are proud to be operating and have our business grow in Tanzania alongside the steady and positive growth of the country's economy.'
During the same occasion the airline also held an award presenting ceremony wherein a total of nine prizes were handed over to the travel agents, which included top seven travel agents, Emirates Holidays award and Emirates SkyCargo award.
Thanking the agents for supporting the airline, Al Serkal said: 'We, at Emirates are very grateful for the support you are giving us.
Emirates has always shared a very good relationship with its travel agents, here in Tanzania and across its network globally.
Therefore, this ceremony tonight is a small token of our appreciation for all the support you give to us.'
Waljis Travel and Tours was conferred with the first prize for being the top selling agent for the airline, whilst the second was taken by Skylink Travel & Tours Ltd.
Antelope Tours & Travels Service Limited won the third place while Jumbo Travel Services Limited got the fourth place.
The fifth and sixth awards went to Worldlink Travel & Tours Ltd. and Bonvoyage Travel Centre Ltd respectively while the seventh was taken by Kearsley Travel & Tours.
The Emirates Holidays award went to Skylink Travel & Tours Ltd. while Luft Logistics & Services Ltd. received the Emirates SkyCargo award.
All the winners of the awards were presented with beautifully engraved crystal trophies from Emirates Airline.
