Mall of the Emirates attracts more than 10 million visitors since its opening six months ago

Mall of the Emirates, the leading shopping mall in the UAE and the largest mall outside of North America has experienced a highly impressive number of visits since the shopping resort opened on September 28, 2005.

'Our property is setting the standards for the retail industry across the UAE and the region. The customer traffic to our unique offering of leisure, shopping and entertainment has exceeded 10 million visits over the past six months and reflects the success of our business. The fact that we are exceeding our expectations as well those of our retailers is exciting and impressive,' Jim Badour, Vice President, Mall of the Emirates explained.

He pointed out that since its opening, Mall of the Emirates has experienced a steadily increasing footfall that makes it the regular location of choice for hundreds of thousands of shoppers, stressing that on average around 450,000 shoppers visit the mall every week.

'We expected Mall of the Emirates to attract large number of shoppers and exceed the 30 million visitor mark once we were fully operational. We set aggressive targets to reflect the large retail and entertainment offer in the mall,'

Jim added 'While we expected it would take some time to achieve our target, we are thrilled to know that we will be able to achieve it during the first year of operation. The response to Mall of the Emirates has been outstanding and the scheme is an overwhelming success.'

Younis Al Mulla, General Manager, Administration and Community Relations at Mall of the Emirates stated that 31 new outlets have opened across the mall since January 2006, including unique anchor stores like Harvey Nichols, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, as well as Emporio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabanna, Franck Provost, Vacheron Constantine, Emporio Armani Café, The Toy Store, as well as Johnny Rockets and Jacky's at Magic Planet.

He concluded that new high end fashion outlets like Louis Vuitton as well as speciality restaurants like Lenotre are set to open during the summer providing further reasons for shoppers to visit.
