Even if you're not interesting in buying the Gold Souk is still worth a visit. The souk is a labyrinth of back streets lined with shops selling all that glitters. In the past it was worth buying gold in the souk for the bargain prices, although these days you're just as likely to get the same price at the jewellery shops located in Dubai's shopping malls. Your bargaining power is greater at the souk though, so brush up your negotiating skills. Apart from gold, you'll also find diamonds, rubies, emeralds, opals, amethysts and pearls, which can be bought as they are or in a variety of settings. |
